CHRISTMAS CARDS | CALGARY PHOTOGRAPHER

Last summer I sat on my friends back deck, drink in hand, sun blazing, kids playing in the sprinkler and without thinking said “ugh I hate summer”  every single person there stopped their conversation, brows furrowed and said “pardon” I realized quickly that I may be the only person on the planet that hates summer and decided then and there to never mention it again to any of my friends (who may just be people i used to know after they read this post).  Now don’t get me wrong I like being outside, I just don’t like the sweltering heat like others do I would rather cozy up on the couch with a comfy blanket and the fireplace blazing while the snow piles up outside. However, this year we have had a gorgeous fall, so warm, I would even venture to say hot, I didn’t think winter was ever coming to Calgary and was totally caught off guard when I checked the weather for this week.  A winter storm warning….I scrambled to get my kids dressed and ready to take some Christmas Card photos, because I had wasted all those ‘perfect for photos’ days wondering if my new Uggs were ever going to get worn!  Did I realize what a task this was going to be? I think I was in denial thinking it would be a five minute project that ended up taking over an hour, three lollipops, a promised visit to our good friend Owen’s, and 60 images…at this point i was out of sun out of bribes and left with these to giggle at while I wait for the snow to fall….

This is Oliver’s portrait pose

and of course Ella, she loves the camera so no funny faces for this girl.

D. Nicolaisen - I could not agree with you more! I love winter! Esp. when I don’t have to drive anywhere. My toes are still thawing out from our bus stop trip this morning. I LOVE your pictures! The clarity you get is breathtaking!November 16, 2010 – 3:36 pm
